Standard or discontinuous circulation

The spray mixture only flows through the sections when spraying, with no return to the tank at the end of the section. Any spray cut-offs will cause the spray mixture to be immobilised within the piping. Products suspended in the water tend to settle and cause the nozzles to become clogged. This is exacerbated by the use of small calibre nozzles which causes the booms to have a low flow rate and can result in deposits during spraying. Although this circulation method has the advantage of rinsing easily (by expelling the dead volume in the boom without it returning to the tank), it also has the disadvantage of not being self-priming. The boom gradually fills up with spray mixture, at which point missed sections begin to appear in a characteristic V shape at beginning of the plot.

Semi-continuous flow

The spray mixture circulates continuously during spraying, a model that helps to limit the risk of clogging though sedimentation when concentrated spray mixtures are used with low output nozzles. This type of circulation is extremely useful when working with powder-based chemicals and in low-volume applications.

Continuous flow with AGP

With this type of circulation, the spray is cut-off at each nozzle. The spray mixture therefore still circulates through a calibrated opening at the end of the boom. This avoids the risk of sedimentation with the use of very concentrated spray mixture. This can only be used on booms where the nozzle holders have electrically or pneumatically driven non-drip diaphragms.
