Berthoud, as an agriculture spraying specialist in row crops and viticulture, announces a new collaboration with the startup Carbon Bee Agtech, specialized in Artificial Intelligence for agriculture.
This new collaboration lies on the localized weed control solution IMPAACT from Carbon Bee Agtech. Tests are actually deployed in France with a self-propelled sprayer equipped. This phase before commercialization allows both teams to work together in optimization of the IMPAACT spot spraying, a technological revolution answering environmental challenges.
The IMPAACT solution detects weeds in real time thanks to cameras set up directly on the sprayer boom. Sensors discriminate crops and weeds species, and only the chosen weeds are sprayed. Finally, a web interface proposes a mapping for traceability of weeds species repartition with density evaluation. This technology is intended to reduce by 50 to 80% chemical inputs, without yield impact. This leads farmers to run their agro chemical measures with precision, cost and environmental impact reduction.
The partnership fully fits with the new Berthoud strategy in Exel Industries group announced in early July. Sebastien Tremblais, CEO of Berthoud, explains: ‘Government strategy for reduction, or suppression, of phyto-pharmaceutical products lead us to set up an offensive strategy, targeting precision technologies, to support our customers to tackle this transition, while staying competitive.’ Berthoud is investing right now to foster the company innovation on precision farming, electronics, robotics and Artificial Intelligence with spot spraying like with Carbon Bee Agtech.
‘Carbon Bee Agtech team is proud to work along with Berthoud, especially in the new structuration of the Exel Industries group; a real opportunity to integrate our technology revealing farmers advantages for environmental transition’, outlines Gerald GERMAIN, Carbon Bee president.
