Responding to the new challenges of spraying

Air Drive is the solution developed by BERTHOUD to respond to the new challenges of spraying – reduce dispersion, preserve the neighbourhood, limit the quantities applied – while ensuring high-quality application, working comfort, ease of handling and working speed.

Air Drive consists of air-assisted sprayers for wide or narrow vines, which can equip all sprayers designed for spraying on each side of the rows from the BERTHOUD range: WIN’AIR trailed machines and CRUIS’AIR equipment for straddle sprayers and grape-harvesting machines.

Reduced dispersion and product economy

The Air Drive sprayers can be equipped with air injection nozzles to increase the size of the drops and therefore significantly reduce dispersion. They are officially approved by the Ministry of Agriculture for reducing non-treated areas alongside sources of water.

The Air Drive air-assisted sprayers can optimise treatment on each row side throughout the season by adjusting the height of coverage, the air assistance and the size of the drops according to the plant growth stage. Over a complete season, it is possible to save up to 15% of the product and 20% diesel.

Ease of handling, usage flexibility and application quality

Single-piece sprayers, ultra-resistant to impact and retractable over 360°, telescopic booms, slope correction, steering aids for bends on exit from rows…. Air Drive equipment has been designed for maximum ease of handling and working comfort. Air Drive has good working speed and usage flexibility.

The Air Drive air-assisted sprayers are equipped with diffusers with an integrated nozzle, which generate a flow of air loaded with droplets. The position of the nozzle in relation to the airflow has been determined so as to obtain a consistent spread of the spray and maximum coverage height. The flow of air is placed behind the nozzle so as to capture all of the droplets and limit the dispersion. The airspeed profile has been optimised to obtain real air assistance for efficient penetration into the foliage and bunches. In addition, the orientation of the air diffuser's vein allows the position of the nozzle to be adjusted angularly.
