Spraying quality

Spraying quality is conditioned by the distribution of the spray mixture during operation. In addition to this regulation, the stability of the boom is essential for even spraying. This is achieved by boom suspensions and anti-whiplash systems. 

The engineers at the BERTHOUD design office pay particular attention to analysing the stability of the boom as well as to its behaviour during operation, with a constant focus on compactness and ease of use for the operator. Our objective: to optimise your application sites (in terms of quality and work output) and facilitate your travel on the road. 

BERTHOUD is one of the only sprayer manufacturers to design its own booms (boom suspension and arms) and currently has one of the widest ranges on the market: manual or hydraulic folding - choice of material used (steel or aluminium) - design (rear or side-folding) - type of suspension, etc.

Numerous BERTHOUD booms incorporate AXIALE suspension as standard. A true BERTHOUD benchmark, this function provides legendary stability on flat land, slopes and bends.

The AXIALE boom (on mounted, trailed or self-propelled sprayers) and EKTAR RI (on self-propelled front boom sprayers) set the standard in the field with their proven stability and performance. They provide outstanding vertical stability, especially on bends, and excellent performance on sloping land due to their central pivot suspension. They also compensate for slope variations without user intervention.

For “wide width” booms, (EKTAR B2 and EKTAR B3 from 36 to 44 m and AXIALE 36/38 range), PENDULO AXIALE suspension makes it possible to work in AXIALE mode or in pendular mode (this mode is particularly suitable for flat plots of land or when passing over ruts). Switching from one mode to another is done from the cab.

These booms are equipped with an independent anti-whiplash device for each arm: on the unfolding cylinders of the main arms and on the mobile frame. This system reduces horizontal whiplash during acceleration and braking in order to maintain boom structure.

Work day and night 

BERTHOUD equips its range of sprayers with an optional lighting pack to allow you to apply the dose in just the right place at dawn or at night when conditions for application are optimal. 

BERTHOUD's automatic height regulation system Boom Control helps to increase your comfort while driving and improves the efficiency of your treatments by working closer to the target area, while significantly reducing drift (source Arvalis: from 80 cm to 50 cm - drift reduction from 20% - 10%). 

Road width: compact booms for greater safety and practicality

For greater safety and practicality, BERTHOUD ramps fit within the road width, at less that 2.55 metres in transport.

In addition, the 3-arm folding booms are designed so that they do not come up to the level of the cab. Their compactness helps to remove the risk of collision between the tractor cab and the boom. Booms that drain onto the tractor are also a thing of the past.
